Graphic Novel, Manga, Doodle fiction : Similarities and Differences


  GRAPHIC NOVELS

        It is a long and more substantive than a comic book, which is serialized excerpt from a larger narrative. It used a very American art style in drawing, its elements came from different countries. The term is employed in a broad manner, encompassing non-fiction works and thematically linked short stories as well as fictional stories across a number of genres.  


 MANGA


      Are comic books created in Japan using specific style of drawing characters. Manga is considered an artistic and storytelling style.  The word manga has come today to be understood as referring to graphic novels though its literal meaning is “whimsical pictures”.


DOODLE FICTION



    A literary presentation where the author incorporates doodle drawings and hand written graphics in place of traditional font. It incorporates handwritten graphics in telling a story much longer and tend to be much complex.

SIMILARITIES

   All genres incorporates pictures, set of words, speech balloon, setting, plot, characters, conflict and theme. The three genres are comic-like structure and in story telling style with creative designs. These are all from the 21st century literary. Graphic novels and Manga are essentially a book-format comic book, with a spine instead of staples and distributed instead of a magazine like a book. They use panels with illustrations and texts for readers to quickly understand. Doodle fictions and Graphic novels are not necessarily from a specific country, as long as the literary piece contains elements as these genres.

DIFFERENCES IN TERMS OF STRUCTURE

Doodle fiction contains a structure of handwritten graphics, doodle drawings and writings. It is more loose open, structured left to right and top to bottom with less rigid division and larger images.

Graphic novel is a narrative work which is conveyed to the readers in a comic form. It is structured left to right, top to bottom, with hard dividers between panels that are usually white or black bars.

Manga is a style of japanese comics book and is a story telling style. It is structured right to left but still read top to bottom. White panels dividers are usually used for present day events, while flashbacks and past event usually have black dividers between their panels.

DIFFERENCE IN TERMS OF ELEMENTS 

Doodle fiction includes hand-scribed text, images, and humurous components that keep readers engaged. Elements revolves in the handwritten text and doodles that are part of the story.

Graphic novel includes lenghtly narration similar to comic book with colored background. Used a very americanized art style in drawing, it’s elements and theme came from the different countries.

Manga contains depicting objects and figures called images which is content of manga’s expression that constructed of lines. It’s elements always pertain to the japanese culture, the people, the behavior, and the environment.
